Psalm 73

This is my favorite Psalm for many reasons. I may go into some or all of these reasons in subsequent posts, or possibly in responses to this post.

Do any of you have a "favorite Psalm?" If so, what might it be & why? I love the Psalms, mainly because Christ is so clearly presented in so many of them! Looking forward to your insightful & delightful responses!

That is a very good one. I really like Psalm 62 a lot. It may just be my favorite although I do really like Spurgeons favorite as well, but Psalm 62 really speaks as I pray it to God and meditate on it.

Grace upon grace,

Brian

Oh bro. Brian! I love that Psalm as well. Since it was written by David while he was on the run from Absalom, his favorite son.
I remember good ol' Dr. Walter Wilson preached on Psalm 62 quite awhile back on BBN before we went to work there, & he titled it "The Only Psalm" since "only" is used a few times in the Psalm.

The Lord often uses trials or crises to draw us closer to Himself. Thanks brother for your comment! God Bless.

Psalm 23

Especially
Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

As I get closer to the time when I will see my home in Heaven -- I remember that departing for me as a believer in Christ is not "death" but only a shadow of death.. and therefore I fear no evil!!

In Christ eternally,

Great truth, bro. Jack. I personally hope that you have many years left, unless of course the Lord raptures us out soon! Yet I am thankful we have the certain hope of being with Him in Heaven forever through simple faith in Him & His promise of eternal life in great passages such as John 3:16. Thanks for your input bro. Jack. Great stuff. Any others?

Hey I have a praise brother David. Hank Farrier picked up the phone when I called in today to make a pledge. He sounded a little confused, but now I know what was going on. I dont know what I was thinking. Anyway tell him its fine as that was a one time committment I called in. That is what I meant anyway in response to the challenge. We praised the Lord together just the same and I told him you are a tremendous blessing to me.

Psalm 32 is a most wonderful Psalm as well.

Grace upon grace,

Brian

Go figure. Anyway, tell him its cool as in the next session everybody started explaining that this isnt renewal time but faith promise:-)

No problem, bro. Brian! I was sitting next tot him & was on a call as well. He told me that someone knew me but he didn't know your name. Thank you for calling & helping us get the Gospel out to the world! You are a great blessing & encouragement in the Lord to me as well! Hey a man called in last night not knowing if he was saved & I had the tremendous joy & privilege of leading him to our wonderful Savior!!

OK, speaking of this wonderful joy, why don't we meditate on this awesome portion of Psalm 73? It is verses 23-26 in guess which version of the Scriptures!!
"Yet I am always with You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel, and afterwards You will take me up in glory. Whom do I have in heaven but You? And I desire nothing on earth but You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever." (HCSB)

Praise the Lord for souls being saved. I am so excited to be a part of BBN radio. Hallelujah. What a happy family and I look forward to a happy glad reunion day some day. Hallelujah as the angels rejoice and how God has anointed your life as you stay clothed in His humility with your gaze set upon Him.

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever"

Dad showed me that verse a year or so ago and it kept reappearing in some of the darkest days of my life when my oldest son had written a suicide note and the public school system sent us to the local psychiatric clinic. It was during that time from out of nowhere you popped into my blog and encouraged me. What a dark time it was. Truly the Spirit of God reminds me of His lovingkindness to me and oh how he has brought my son and I closer since those dark days.Thankfully the stigma left from being an over the road driver is healing from the past and please pray that I maintain my job that is now local. There were layoffs today but I still have my job as far as I know. I did not find a pink slip and I see that I am scheduled for two loads tomorrow. God is good and thank you for your reminder of this blessed portion that helped keep me going when I wanted to crawl in a hole and die asking the Lord to take me home.

Grace upon grace,

Brian

Bro. Brian,

Thank you for taking the time to post thi s encouraging post. I am so humbled to think that God could use me that way. It is certainly all of His grace, since I had no idea you were going through such turmoil til right this minute. Praise God that He uses the base things of this world! You are a blessing to me, & I have prayed for you to continue in your job unless the Lord has something better. May the Lord keep on blessing you!

Thanks so much brother. You and the BBN family are a tremendous oasis and blessing. What a joy it is to listen to you all fellowshiping and rejoicing in the Lord on the radio.

No go blow that nose and take a niquil and get a little rest. Take some of those vitamin C lozenges as well. Those were helpful to me when I had the flu. I am also drinking 1 V8 with my lunch per workday and walking in the evenings.

Keep healthy brother.

Grace upon grace,

Brian

Hey thanx bro. Brian! I am taking stuff every day & night! Praise the Lord that we can spend & be spent in HIs Work & yet He gives...as you aptly say......grace upon grace! God Bless you brother!

Now, from another of my favorites Psalms:
"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." (Ps.55:22)

Thanks bro. Brian!

Hey, just had an idy. Wondered if anyone here ever suffered a struggle in your faith, as Asaph did in Psalm 73 that you'd like to share how the Lord brought you through it? Only of you feel led of course. God Bless & all glory to HIM!
